*UPDATED* Two great social network visuals

First up comes a map of the world showing the global distribution of social networks via Neville Hobson.

I’ve always loved maps of the world and Neville’s post has a full explanation and interpretation of the data.

Secondly, Robin Hamman has a post about a nifty tool called Friendwheel which plots a visual network of your Facebook contacts.

This is my Facebook network and isn’t it interesting. Someone recently wrote about disliking facebook for bringing their disparate social circles together in one place and breaking down the barriers between various groups of friends.

Well, I suppose my circle show that you can still compartmentalize social circles if you want to. I seem to have four distinct groups:

• Bottom – PR/techy/social media friends
• Centre left – old school friends
• Top middle – University contacts (popular me)
• Centre right – loose assortment of friends

I didn’t intend it to happen like this… wonder what it says about me?
