Memo to PR Week editor: read this blog

06/12/2006 by simoncollister Leave a Comment

Both Stuart Bruce and Antony Mayfield have posted about the editor of UK PR Week’s choice of media in Media Guardian’s My Media column. I haven’t read the column yet but Stuart and Antony haved a good round up of his daily media menu.

I just wanted to (re)highlight his comments about there being a lack of good UK PR blogs… obviously I would disagree with this sentiment as would scores of others no doubt.

While Stuart kindly lists this blog as one to read, it is not always about being good or not. Surely as editor of a national PR magazine it would advantagous to read as mcuh about what your audience/customers are saying or thinking about your product.

For instance, if Danny had read my blog in May he would have come across three unbiased reviews of the UK’s leading PR trade magazines: PR Week; PR Business and CorpComms in which PR Week’s new weekly rival, PR Business, came out tops.

More importantly he would have seen other feedback from bloggers and PR Week readers about what each magazine was doing right and what they were doing wrong.

Not that I am PR Week bashing. Previously I have made somewhat adulatory posts about Mr Rogers and his magazine.

I would urge Danny and all his staff at PR Week: don’t just pay lip-service to new media and run a tech page featuring which big deals tech PR firms have scored. Do a ‘PR Business’ and look at the issues and developments in online PR and social media. It’s exciting stuff….
