The govt is right to do the macro things it plans to do, but its the middle tier that scares me.

There's a lot of state-sponsored development initiatives currently takin gplace that tend to be top-down and dominated by old media.

Even if its just for PR-purposes it would be nice to have an event that flips that upside down with no ROI targets apart from learning and innovation.

Interesting points - I see where you are coming from re. macro-level initiatives, but I think the best strategy is to minimise intervention; perhaps by keeping a watching brief on digital developments.

That way we will see (even more) grassroots groups focussed on 'learning and innovation' - and not just as PR stunts! :)
