Drew B tagged me with his Top 5 YouTube moments post a few days back and I am more than happy to oblige:
1. First up, it has to be the earliest content I can recall seeing on YouTube. The link came courtesy of Popbitch and it was the still fantastic and super clever real life Simpson's intro. I think this was done by Sky One to plug the new series of the show. Anyway. It's totally brilliant, as we used to say in the 1990s.
2. It's my most favourite pancake-based short film of all time. It's got great music, hilarious editing and it looks like the Nutella, jam, sugar and lemon are dancing around. Ha, ha. Oh yes, and it probably took 4 months to make!
3. The hardest. Which one of the many homemade / poor quality films of the greatest band so far of the 21st century (many wouldn't agree. But they would be wrong) to choose from? I've opted for a song that sums up a particularly good period of my life etc... It's The Libertines. Fabulous. Don't Look Back into the Sun. One for Stephen Davies!
In fact The Libertines were made for YouTube. They did loads of 'guerilla gigs' back in the early 2000s - posting last minute details on their website. According to their biographer, they were one of the first to use the internet in this way. A lot of these gigs were then videoed and can now be found on YouTube - including one seminal impromptu moment in a North London pub (Barfly?).
4. Still music, but with a bit of amazing choreography chucked in, it's OK GO, on Treadmills. Anyone care to guess how many takes they had?
5. And finally, I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds YouTube videos tagged with "funny" or "cats" addictive. Maybe it's because we're cat owners (Cosmo & Dibbs anyone?) or maybe it's because I'm juvenile and like seeing cats pull toasters off tables.
Hooray for YouTube!
Right. You're it:

"Don’t look back into the sun
Now you know that the time has come
And they said it would never come for you oh oh oh oh
Oh my friend you haven’t changed
You're looking rough and living strange
And I know you got a taste for it too oh oh oh
They'll never forgive you but they wont let you go, oh no
She'll never forgive you but she won't let you go, oh no"
Fantastic!

Have to admit it will be my top five moments available on YouTube rather than my top five YouTube moments but I will rise to the challenge...

What is it with PR people and cats? Lord knows I love 'em too.
