Just had an email from the US-based Public Forum Institute telling me about its one-day seminar on 3 August, International e-Participation and Local Democracy.
Come along and join the fun:
"Help shape the debate by participating in The Baltimore E-Democracy Symposium, a one day event hosted by the Public Forum Institute on August 3, which will integrate findings from a related symposium held earlier this year in Budapest. Topics will re-examine the impact of technology on citizen-centric government with plenary panels, debates and small group sessions surrounding the future of e-Government."
Sounds good. The US is still way ahead in general Web 2.0 / new media adoption so there could be some lesssons to learn about where the UK should (and shouldn't) be going with eDemocracy.
Only problem is, it's in Baltimore. I bet Dave Miliband is sending one of his lackies!
