I posted back in February about a new series due from the legendary surrealist comic and columnist, Armando Ianucci. His show Time Trumpet, airs this Thursday at 10pm on BBC and takes the form of a current affairs show set in the year 2037 looking back at current events.
Well, it appears the BBC is attempting to drum up interest in the show via YouTube.
If you stick "Time Trumpet" into YouTube, you get a couple of short snippets from the new series. One of these which claims to have been leaked to the user ends with a cartoon image of Armando underneath a banner saying ‘Viral Sh*te 2.0′.
Once the clips have ended, YouTube style screenshots appear with user details that appear to have been written with such contempt for all things needlessly modern that they are sure to have come from Armando himself.
This also appears part of the marketing ploy as you can’t actually watch the fake UGC videos that have great titles such as ‘The Best of Modern T*ss’ uploaded by ‘Just scum generally’.
Comments posted by users about the clips range from "What a load of b*ll*cks" to "More please, BBC!".
In this week’s episode you can look forward to hearing about how Charlotte Church vomited herself insode out in 2007. Set those recorders…
UPDATE: full-length sketches from the show can be viewed by going to: www.timetrumpet.co.uk – it entices visitors by asking them:
