Blogging about lying

I just thought I’d draw people’s attention to the article in the current issue of PR Week, Max Clifford: is lying justified?

In response to a spat in the letters section over whether Max is a true PR practitioner or not, Max has come out all guns blazing and challenged the wider profession to a fight – literally.

"’Come and have a go at me – in person – and let’s establish just how far removed I am from the real professionals working in the industry,’ he said."

PR Week have offered to host the event but are appealing for participants (Email them to take part!).

I would really like to attend but think that work probably won’t let me take the time off! Perhaps PR Week can film it and post it on the web or have a realtime blog? That would give everyone access.

  1. Wow, how much fun would that be?! If you are interested, my dissertation is based on the difficult issue of whether Clifford is a practitioner or publicist – and what the difference is anyhow. If you want to see my questions they are under ‘Asking Questions’

I’d be really interested to get your answers.

I thought about your dissertation when I posyed that, Alex. I’ll have a look at your questions… but my colleague, Gill, made the observation (wish I’d made it myself!) that Max says: ‘let’s establish just how far removed I am from the real professionals working in the industry.’ Isn’t that a starightforward admission as to his position???

  3. Could be could be, unless he is saying that he is so much better than the real professionals. After all it wouldn’t be entirely out of character would it?
Although I think that Gill is right – it does sound like an admission to me. Cheers.
